Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data is collected when you use Tabs & Twists, where it is stored and how it is used. You can browse the site without an account; most of the data below is only collected once you sign up.

Data we collect

• Email address: used to create your account, sign you in and identify your account. It is never shown to other users.
• Display name: the name you enter when signing up with email. If you don't enter one, the part of your email address before the @ is used instead.
• Profile details from Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your profile name and a link to your profile photo. The photo itself stays on Google's servers; we only store the link.
• Reviews and ratings: the reviews you write and the 1–5 star ratings you give to books.
• Favorites: the list of books you add to your favorites.

What is public?

Your display name, profile photo (if any), reviews and ratings are shown to other visitors on book pages. Your email address and your favorites list are not public.

Where your data is stored

Your account details, reviews, ratings and favorites are stored in our database hosted on Supabase, the infrastructure provider that runs this service on our behalf.

Cookies and analytics

When you sign in, essential session cookies are set in your browser to keep you signed in. We also use Vercel Web Analytics to understand site traffic; it does not use cookies and does not collect information that identifies you personally — it only produces aggregate statistics such as page views.

How we use and share your data

We use your data only to run the site: managing your account, showing your reviews and ratings, and calculating average book ratings. We do not sell your personal data to third parties or share it for advertising.

Reviews may be automatically screened for content that breaks our community rules and may be hidden or removed by site administrators.

Deleting your data

To have your account and all related data deleted, email info@tabsandtwists.com from the email address registered to your account. When your account is deleted, your profile, reviews, ratings and favorites are permanently deleted as well.
